We offer a wide range of volunteering roles from event support and customer experience through to some of our more specialist roles. You can view a list of our current vacancies here.

Volunteers must be 18 years or over.  There is no maximum age limit, although volunteers need to be reasonably fit.

There will be an opportunity to let us know what skills, experience and interests you have via the application form. We will then use this information to see if we have a suitable role available. Some volunteer roles may require a specialist skillset, qualification and/or certification, therefore if you do not have any experience or qualifications with regards to aircraft, it is unlikely you will be put into one of our volunteer teams who have a hands-on requirement interfacing directly with aircraft.

We ask that, as a minimum, you are available for all show days (17th - 19th July). We are unable to accept applications with less than three days availability.

Volunteering hours vary depending on the team and the role.  Once your application form is sent to a team manager for interview, you will have an opportunity to ask this question.

Upon submitting your application to volunteer at RIAT, a member of Volunteer Engagement will review your application and where possible, match you with a suitable role. The relevant Team Manager will then contact you to arrange a telephone or teams interview to discuss your application further. This will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. We receive a large number of applications and therefore cannot guarantee a role will be available.

We offer a free volunteer campsite for those who wish to bring their own tent, motorhome, caravan or campervan and this is a popular choice. We can also provide tented accommodation free of charge, for those volunteers who do not live locally.

Bell tents are provided to volunteers who require accommodation and are located in our Volunteer village (near to the showground). Bell tents come with a single bed, mattress, duvet and pillow, a small bedside table and a power socket. Due to accommodation and space being limited, all volunteers are required to share with a minimum of two people to a tent. We have a small number of rooms offsite that we may be able to offer, depending on availability.

Washroom facilities are available for all types of accommodation.

We provide volunteers with three meals a day on the days they are volunteering. All meals are served in our purpose-built Airfield Diner.

We do our best to cater for dietary requirements. You will be given the opportunity to state your dietary requirements during the registration stage, should you be successfully placed in a role.

The Volunteer Village is not within walking distance of the showground and therefore we encourage lift sharing amongst team members to travel back and forth.

As volunteering hours very for each team and role, there is no guarantee you will see the show as a volunteer.

Yes, all volunteers are entitled to two complimentary tickets for friends/family to use.

Following the show, we will send a survey to all volunteers requesting feedback on all aspects of the RIAT volunteering experience. We value our volunteers feedback and use this to continue the volunteering experience year on year.
