Diamond DA62 MPP

The Diamond DA62 is available in two base versions, a five-seat aircraft in Europe and as a seven-seat aircraft in the USA. Tracing its lineage to the Diamond DA42, the DA62 is larger and more capable coupled with better performance. Powered by a pair of Austro AE300 diesel engines, the DA62 first flew in April 2012 with deliveries commencing during 2015. At present, the DA62 is built in both Austria and Canada, kits will also be assembled in the near future at Aeromot in Brazil. The DA62 is offered as the DA62MPP special mission platform which can carry a variety of different special mission payloads. The DA62MPP is being marketed as being perfect for a variety of roles including search and rescue, border patrol and law enforcement.

The UK Search and Rescue (SAR) capability was provided by the RAF, Royal Navy and HM Coastguard, using the Sea King and S-61. Following a decision in 2006 by Her Majesties Government, the capability was put out to tender to private operators. During March 2013, the Department for Transport signed a contract with Bristow Helicopters to provide the UK SAR helicopter capability from 2015. Partnering Bristow were 2Excel Aviation who provide the fixed wing element of the SAR contract using a special mission equipped King Air 200 and Piper Navajo. These aircraft can be used for SAR or for other missions including counter pollution, fisheries enforcements and law enforcement. The new service achieved full capability during 2019.

2Excel will be providing their brand-new Diamond DA62MPP for static display at this year's Air Tattoo. The DA62 will be displayed alongside a 2Excel Super King Air 200 plus a pair of helicopters operated by Bristow Helicopters who partner 2Excel in the wider UK Search and Rescue contract.
