About the role:
The RIAT Medical Director is an appointed RAF Medical Officer who is responsible for the overall medical policy, clinical organisation and operation of all Medical Services involved with RIAT. Responsibilities include:
- The provision of a limited Primary Health Care service for all RIAT participants located at RAF Fairford during the period 13 to 20 Jul
- The provision of emergency medical cover and initial medical response during the Show build-up, aircraft arrival/departure days and public days
- The provision of medical, ambulance, nursing and first aid cover for members of the public during public days
Main Responsibilities will include:
The medical response team is dedicated to the initial management of a major incident. In the event of a major incident the medical response team will be responsible for performing triage, initial treatment and stabilising casualties. Working as a team under the direction of an experienced medical operational commander, and will train closely with the other emergency services, particularly the airfield fire and rescue service.
These roles are particularly suited to ambulance service personnel and qualified nurses.
Applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

- 5 days (plus travelling days either side if required) during the period Wed 15 to Sun 19 Jul

Travel:
In line with our sustainability commitment, we strongly encourage volunteers to car share wherever possible, and/or utilise public transport.
The following is in place to support our volunteers with any out-of-pocket expenses.
- Motor Mileage: Claim 45p per mile (maximum 315 miles) return mileage to RIAT and to encourage car sharing, an additional 5p per additional passenger may be claimed by the vehicle driver
- Train Fare: Travel should be standard class; reimbursement will be made up to the maximum claim amount (£100.00) on the production of receipts, tickets, or confirmation email
