About us:

We are the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises. We will promote the RAF by placing it at the heart of a programme of world-class events and activities, with the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) as our unique centrepiece. We will Inspire young people, inside the RAF and wider UK society, to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology by delivering, with and through partners, access to and involvement in forward-looking air and space activities, including highly stimulating personal development opportunities.

About the role:

Based at Event Control (EC), the Zone Team plays a key role in supporting the Operations Director to ensure RIAT runs safely, efficiently, and meets the needs of all stakeholders. The team provides management with advice and assistance as required. Event Control, located on the edge of the public showground, acts as a central point of support for any department when an issue, regardless of its nature, cannot be resolved through routine management processes.

The Sector Marshal role involves acting as roving showground monitors, using bicycles to patrol the site and report information back to Event Control (EC). They may also be directed by EC to attend specific locations as required. In the event of an emergency, EC coordinates and directs resources to support the Emergency Services and ensure public welfare on the showground - Sector Marshals play an important part in assisting with this.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting any conflicts in the showground build, paying particular attention to security fencing, crowd management and Health & Safety issues
  • Checking the showground regularly for unidentified items that could present a risk
  • Reporting any issues that may be likely to have an adverse impact on the customer experience
  • Being proactive and approachable in providing assistance to the public
  • Assist any “Blue Light” emergency vehicles moving within the showground
