About us:

We will Inspire young people, inside the RAF and wider UK society, to fulfil their potential in air, space and technology by delivering, with and through partners, access to and involvement in forward-looking air and space activities, including highly stimulating personal development opportunities.
About the role:
The Techno Zone® crew work hard to make the Techno Zone an exciting, welcoming space all weekend. They’re friendly, approachable, and highly knowledgeable about the exhibits, helping visitors when needed. Beyond the Techno Zone, they guide guests to wider show attractions, food areas, and essential facilities like toilets, ensuring everyone has a smooth, enjoyable experience.
Knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is desirable for this role.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Welcome visitors to the Techno Zone®, offering friendly, proactive assistance and identifying anyone who may need extra support
- Stay informed about all activities, exhibits, and showcases within the Techno Zone®, and guide visitors to key attractions such as hands-on exhibits and Inspire Stage sessions
- Guide guests to wider show attractions, food areas, and essential facilities like toilets
- Escalate any issues to the Techno Zone Crew supervisor
- Be aware of emergency protocols, including procedures for medical incidents, lost visitors, fire, emergency evacuation, and technical malfunctions, and know who to contact for assistance
What commitment is required?
- 6 Days - Wednesday pre-event to Monday post event
- A training session via Microsoft Teams in late May

Travel:
In line with our sustainability commitment, we strongly encourage volunteers to car share wherever possible, and/or utilise public transport.
The following is in place to support our volunteers with any out-of-pocket expenses.
- Motor Mileage: Claim 45p per mile (maximum 315 miles) return mileage to RIAT and to encourage car sharing, an additional 5p per additional passenger may be claimed by the vehicle driver
- Train Fare: Travel should be standard class; reimbursement will be made up to the maximum claim amount (£100.00) on the production of receipts, tickets, or confirmation email
